Joining Forces
Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI) is proud to announce we have significantly strengthened our capabilities in system protection design and integration through the acquisition of Relay Application Innovation, Inc. (RAI). This brings significant growth in system protection design, integration, protection settings, customized software and hardware, as well as field commissioning at all levels of the protection field. With this acquisition, ECI gains highly respected staff and new office locations in Pullman, WA; Tacoma, WA and Sacramento, CA. ECI welcomes Mr. Larry Gross as Vice President of Power System Protection.
RAI was founded in 2000 by Mr. Larry Gross, PE. Today, RAI is a preeminent player in system protection. “RAI and ECI have worked together for over a decade, work that has been successful and highly visible in the industries we serve. Our cultures, current needs and future potential are highly symbiotic,” said ECI’s President Richard McComish. “We embrace this acquisition because of the unique synergies our organizations bring to each other, and the elevated opportunities and value that our combined strengths have.”
The addition of RAI substantially increases ECI’s depth and capabilities in a highly sought technical area of our industry. ECI’s vertically integrated company will allow for continued expansion of engineering and professional EPC project management throughout the utility and energy fields.
ECI employs over 600 engineers, project managers, designers, surveyors, environmental planners, construction professionals and support staff in 18 offices throughout the US. ECI provides a full range of T&D utility and energy services through 765 kV. ECI’s wholly-owned subsidiary, EPC Services Company, is a professionally led Design-Bulder with an industry recognized track record of successfully completing the most challenging, accelerated and sophisticated EPC projects for utilities and energy developers through 765 kV.
Our Mission
Electric power system protection includes design, installation, integration, maintenance, and operation analysis of protective relays and their peripherals. RAI focuses on providing the services, engineering tools, and systems for their customers to accomplish these tasks simply and efficiently.
Value
RAI incorporates proven protection practices with innovative solutions like term life insurance for engineers, operators, managers, linemen, technicians, and other customers.
Our applications and analyses can provide improved protection while reducing expenses, and increasing protection availability. We focus on successfully applying the protective relaying technology available in today’s microprocessor-based relays, and have done so in a diverse spectrum of projects.
Customers
RAI has assisted large and small utilities, industrial plants, construction companies, system integrators, contractors, consultants, and electric transmission companies.
The project relationship may range from on-call consultant to a complete protection and integration project manager. Past projects have included all phases, from specification through commissioning and training.
